Using WebManager
The Aloak WebManager is a utility which enables you to manage the files within your Aloak web space. You may use the WebManager to upload files, create folders, delete files or folders and unzip a bundle of compressed files.

The WebManager may be accessed from your Account Manager or by adding webmanager/ to your customized web site address (ex. http://mysite.aloak.com/webmanager/) and typing the address into your browser location bar. So, to begin using the WebManager go to the facility using one of these methods.

In order to access the WebManager facility for your web space you will require your Aloak username and password. This will block others from accessing your web space.

Upload A File

To upload a file from your hard drive to your Aloak web space using the WebManager, click on the Upload button beside the WebManager Tools icon. Then, either click the browse button and select the file on your hard drive that you wish to upload or enter the path to the file in the text box beside File:. When the correct file is showing in the text box, click the Upload button.

If you wish to place the file in a sub-folder, you must navigate to the desired folder before uploading the file, by clicking on the subfolder in the directory listing which appears below the text box.

Create A Folder

To create a new folder within your web space, click on the Create button beside the WebManager Tools icon. Enter the name of the new folder in the text box beside Folder Name:. Click the Create button.

If you wish to create a new folder within an existing folder you must navigate to the desired folder before creating the new folder, by clicking on the subfolder in the directory listing which appears below the text box.

Delete A File Or Folder

To delete a file or folder within your web space, click on the Delete button beside the WebManager Tools icon. Place a checkmark in the Select column beside each of the files that you wish to delete by clicking on the box. Click the Delete button.

If you wish to delete a file or folder within an sub-folder you must navigate to the desired folder before deleting the desired file or folder, by clicking on the subfolder in the directory listing.

Unzip A Compressed File

It is often convenient to upload files in compressed format (zipped) for two reasons. Compressed files are smaller which reduces the time required to upload any given file. A single compressed file may contain a number of files. This makes it very convenient to upload a group of files with a single action. There are many free utilities available to perform the task of creating zipped files. If you require one take a look at Tucows. We recommend either WinZip or PKZip, but almost any of the utilities will do the job.

To upload a zipped file follow the instructions above. Once the zipped file has been uploaded to your web space, click the Unzip button beside the WebManager Tools icon. Enter the name of the file you wish to unzip in the text box and click on the Unzip button.

If you wish to unzip a file within a sub-folder you must navigate to the desired folder before unzipping the file, by clicking on the subfolder in the directory listing which appears below the text box.
