Web Based Email
Send and receive email from any web browser anywhere! Use the Aloak web based Mail Reader to access your email. You may access the Mail Reader from our Account Manager or by adding mailmanager/ to your customized web site address

(ex. http://my_site.aloak.com/mailmanger/).

To find out more about the Mail Reader, click here.

The web based Mail Reader does not require any configuration to begin using it. The option remains for those that prefer it, to use your own email client such as Microsoft Outlook Express or Netscape Mail. Some configuration is required in order to use your own email client.

Email Configuration
This page explains the configuration of email client software. These instructions are for those clients using their EcomHost email box. If your email is being forwarded to a different mailbox, you don't need to change your email client software configuration.

With your EcomHost mailbox you can effectively use almost any email utility. Eudora, Microsoft Outlook Express, Microsoft Outlook XP, Microsoft Outlook 2000, Netscape 4.x, and Netscape 6 and are some of the most popular utilities and so are explained in detail below.

Settings

The following settings are generic and apply to any email utility. This information will have to be entered in into the email utility you use. Please make note of these settings and proceed to the configuration instructions below.

SMTP Server: The SMTP or Outgoing Mail Server is the machine used to send your email messages out to the Internet. This should simply be the domain name part of your web address (without the www.). For example:
my_site.aloak.com or my_domain.ca
POP Server: The POP Server or Incoming Mail Server is the machine that stores email sent to your email address. This should be set to the same value as the SMTP server given above, which is the domain name part of your web address. For example:
my_site.aloak.com or my_domain.ca
POP Account: The POP account is your EcomHost email address. From the example given in POP Server, the members login name would be either
my_site@aloak.com or
name@my_domain.ca
Password: Your password is the key which allows you to access email which you have received. Each EcomHost subscription comes with a password which is chosen at the time the account is created. If your password is forgotten you may retrieve your password hint from the Account Manager
